The counting of the Omer is a 49 day count between the holidays of Passover and Shavuot. In Biblical times, it began with a sacrifice of barley to celebrate the barley harvest and ended just before the wheat harvest on Shavuot. Over time, it became a period of serious "spiritual work" dedicated to self-reflection and character development. Come to Thrive for an impactful seven week course designed to create space and provide tools for your personal sustained spiritual practice. We will engage in contemplative study, meditation, journaling and other activities using our awareness of the time period and the counting of the Omer as our prompt.
What you can expect: Each week, selections of reading will be assigned for you to read prior to class that will serve as the basis for that week's study. We will then move to practical spiritual exercises designed to help you cultivate and foster the traits described in the lessons. You will also be assigned a short spiritual exercise for each non-class day so that the the practice is continuous.
