The Time is Now: A Unique Daylong Mindfulness Retreat

Join us on Sunday, May 5, 2019 for an immersive retreat focusing on NOW. We know that life is busy and it’s hard to make time and space for practices that relax, calm and sustain. Here’s an opportunity to carve out time, at the idyllic Providence Zen Center, and spend a day focusing on the NOW.

Activities include meditation, yoga, art, play, tea drinking, yoga dance, movement, techniques of body and voice—and more! These are activities that simplify our lives, recharge our bodies, and commit our spirits to the practices that can help us flourish each and every day. We provide the amazing faculty and the nourishment to get you through the day—and you bring your breath, open mind, and open heart.

All sessions are open to beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. As ever, Thrive is committed to fostering an inclusive, open environment for all who seek to engage in practice, and, as such, we want you to join us!

9:15 – 9:45 “An Opening Breath Together: A Guided Morning Meditation” with Jeffery Sathyadev Branch

We will breathe together and be led into the present moment through breathwork, meditative contemplation, and collective energetic healing.

2. Being Present Through the Art of Acting  Jason Slavick

Being "in the moment" is essential to acting. In our bodies, movement, voices, and minds, we train to let go of the static that interferes with "being present." In this workshop, we will use acting exercises and games of voice and movement to practice being simply present this moment we are living.

1. Paper Marbling Hayley Ferber

Join art educator Hayley Ferber to learn the magical and zen process of paper marbling. Surrender control and watch as the color dances on water and embeds itself into the paper for a surprising and unpredictable result. 

2. Mindfulness and (Playful) Movement  Jeff Smithson

Authenticity and Vulnerability are fundamental components in developing relationships. Play with how you play YOU in this workshop with hospital clown "doctor" Jeff Smithson.

1. Meditation: Mantra Practice for the Present Moment  Jeffery Sathyadev Branch

 Mantra is food for the mind. The ancient scriptures of many traditions offer us the nectar of devotion in the sacred syllables they teach us. Jeffery will give a short discourse on meditative chanting practice, offering insight into its benefits. We will learn an ancient Sanskrit mantra and sit in the deepening stillness with one another. It will be a Divine and blissful encounter! Meet who you are beyond the incessant thoughts of the mind. 

2. Let Your Yoga Dance Nicole Jellinek

Let Your Yoga Dance® is  a chakra dancing yoga fusion, an expression of power & joy combining yoga, the chakras, & user friendly dance with music from all around the world. It is a dance of the multi-dimensional self, bringing tons of fun & healing, breath & movement to the body's seven centers of energy, the chakras. This inspirational dance of yoga is for everybody and every body.

3. Mindful Yoga: Tools for Integrating Mindful Awareness into Your Movement Practice.  Liz Maynard

2:40-3:35 Yoga with Liz Maynard

3:40 – 4:30 Mindfulness Tea with Sonia Gomes

Mindfulness tea is a guided experience in drinking and appreciating a cup of tea with the meditative qualities of mindfulness. The self-awareness and presence we learn in this simple activity can then be applied to our daily lives.
